I took an old laptop, stripped it of pretty much everything, installed a simplified text editor called Calmly Writer, and voila, now I have a dedicated writing deck that's fairly portable (Dells are just not lightweight machines). And I'm loving it. Currently reading You Deserve Good Gelato by @kacierose_. It was 50° today and you'd think it was full on summer the way everyone was outside, wearing T-shirts, and driving with windows down. Playing around with papercraft shapes and patterns inspired by/riffing on quilting blocks (with a little help from my daughter on the last pattern). Being a writer posting to a visual media platform can be challenging. Do I post photos or videos of me typing/writing at my desk, or some other location? Post pics of my laptop screen or journal pages? (Yes to all those questions, BTW.) Something work-related has me rattled and on edge. I wanted to do something crafty that would let my mind relax and switch off, so I stopped by Michael's after work, picked up a scrap/sketch book, then went home to play with my paper punch, stickers, and random brochures I had lying around.
